Coop Raising

With no garage at the house our work areas are the beds of two pickum up trucks.
Murph has all the plans, cuts, and measurements in his head. Impressive.

Here you can see how it will look inside. The ramp can be raised and lowered with a pulley. The ramp leads to the living quarters and nesting box and above that is the roost.

  1. Oh what fun! It took us 7 weekends to design/build our coop, but the effort is all worth it when you start getting fresh eggs from your own chickens. I like the design, did you find plans, or design it yourself? Can't wait to see the coop all finished! Have you decided on a breed of chicken?

  2. We got the idea for the coop from a book "Chicken coops : 45 building plans for housing your flock" by Judy Pangman. Then our friend mapped out the design in Google Sketchup. When the plans are complete I am going to post them here so hopefully others can save some money by making their own coop. I think we are going to get three different birds since we can't decide- an RIR as the ringleader, a buff orpington, and a Black Australorp.
